“Cooking is at once child’s play and adult joy. And cooking done with care is an act of love.”
― Craig Claiborne
Second to the joy of cooking (and EATING) is plating and photographing food. Whether it’s with my trusty Rebel T1i or my quirky iPhone 4., I love playing with colors and angles. Figuring out the best way to showcase what will quickly be devoured.
It can’t be denied that I love food. I love selecting the ingredients, working through a recipe, smelling the aroma, and EATING! It makes sense that I would combine my love of food with my love of photography. In between shoots with my Rebel I like to pull out my phone and take shots of food I’ve cooked or eaten while out. Since, I’ve been gone for a while I thought I should post some of these photos.
Chocolate Stout Cupcake with Whiskey Ganache and Bailey’s Frosting
My interest in food photography developed because I love to cook and bake and share with others. I like posting recipes and showing off the final product. I’m reading and learning how to take better shots to make the food look really appealing. Example: A photo I took in January versus one that I took this month.
Yes, I used different cameras, a Point and Shoot vs a dSLR but the angles and lighting are different. Overhead vs eye-level. Florescent lighting vs natural light. I still have some more work to do but the second shot is a vast improvement.
